Privacy Policy

Anchored is developed and operated by Chai Jang. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Anchored mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and being transparent about how your data is handled.

1. Data We Collect

The table below summarizes the categories of data we collect, aligned with Apple’s App Store privacy nutrition labels. We collect only what is necessary to deliver and personalize your daily affirmations.

A note on sensitive data: Anchored collects your spiritual stage, life season, and personal struggles to personalize AI-generated affirmations. This information is treated with the highest care and is never shared with advertisers or used for marketing purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

App Functionality

Your name and onboarding preferences (spiritual stage, life season, struggles, preferred tone, and voice style) are sent to Google Gemini via Firebase Cloud Functions to generate personalized daily affirmations. Your timezone is used to schedule local notifications at your chosen delivery times.

Personalization

We track which Bible verses have been delivered to you over a rolling 180-day window to ensure variety and avoid repetition. Your engagement data (affirmations viewed, saved, and streaks) is used to display your personal statistics within the App.

Subscription Management

Your Firebase UID is shared with RevenueCat to manage your subscription status and entitlements. We do not process or store payment card details—all payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.

Account Management

We use Firebase Authentication to create and manage your account. You may optionally link your account to Google or Apple sign-in for cross-device access and account recovery.

3. AI-Generated Content

Anchored uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini) to generate personalized daily affirmations. To create content tailored to you, the following data is sent to Google’s Gemini API via our secure server-side Cloud Functions:

This data is sent from our servers to Google’s Gemini API—it is never transmitted directly from your device to any AI provider. Our use of the Gemini API is governed by Google’s Gemini API Terms of Service, which state that data sent through the paid API is not used to train Google’s models.

The AI-generated affirmations are stored in your account so you can access them offline and review your history. You can delete all generated content by deleting your account.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for the purposes described:

We may also disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your personal information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you via the App or email before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

The App and this Privacy Policy may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as Firebase, Google, RevenueCat, and Apple). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with. Clicking on a third-party link or enabling a third-party integration is subject to that third party’s own terms and privacy policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and you continue to use the App.

Anonymous accounts that are deleted are removed immediately along with all associated data.

8. Your Rights & Choices

9. Children’s Privacy

Anchored is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at chaiwjang@gmail.com and we will promptly delete that information.

Users between 13 and 17 may use the App with parental or guardian consent.

10. Tracking & Advertising

Anchored does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not display ads within the App.

In accordance with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, the App does not request tracking permission because we do not engage in any cross-app or cross-site tracking. No data collected by Anchored is used for advertising purposes or shared with data brokers.

We do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals, as the App does not operate in a web browser context.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by other appropriate means.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
